The inaugural Jane Tomlinson 10K took place in June 2007 and so there was an air of expectation that this year’s 5th Anniversary event was going to be a big one. Happily, that turned out to be the case, despite torrential rain, with around 9000 runners, walkers, wheelchair racers and various assorted fancy-dress wearers, from giant chickens and people with dayglo green afros, to Fred Flintstone carrying his car around the 10K course. This mass participation event was devised to be a huge charity fundraiser, aimed at raising money for children’s and cancer charities, so it truly continues to be a ‘Run For All.’

How To Run Faster

Many people want to know how to run faster, but often do not explain in any detail what kind of running they are already doing, or how far they normally run. And let’s face it, there’s a fairly large difference between wanting to speed up your marathon running to get a personal best or beat a specific time to qualify for one of the big marathons; and wanting to leave Usain Bolt crying in your wake! If you want the latter, I wish you well and direct you over to Jamaica to find a coach mischievous enough to take you on. But if you need to know what things to do to run faster in your upcoming 5K or 10K or beyond, then some of the running tips here might be of use to you immediately.

Whichever distance of triathlon you compete in, eventually your training and nutrition will get you up to a standard, and then you’ll hit the dreaded plateau, and be left wondering what you can do to get those race times down even further. Once you have found a way to fly through the transitions without fuss, and if you have a great tri bike which is light as a feather and so aerodynamic it is practically invisible from the front, maybe it’s time to look at yourself and your own aerodynamics. This can mean playing around with your ‘shape’ in the saddle to minimize wind-resistance, or it might mean switching from a standard cycling helmet to a more aerodynamic aero helmet.

Which Are The Best Road Bike Brands For Fun And Competition?

With so many to choose from, it can be difficult to determine the best road bike brands to fit your individual needs. Many of the most popular brands are only available at specialty bike shops or through independent dealers rather than through chain outlets, so you have to shop around in order to find the right model for you. In some cases, you cannot even buy via the internet because brands, such as Specialized for example, prefer to sell through authorized sellers. This is a kind of quality control which means you have to go and get measured up for your bike, making it perfect for you, and also provides extra safety, as you know the bike has been built and tested by professionals!

Seven Seas Humber Bridge 10K 2011 Review

The Humber Bridge 10K road race is an annual event organized by the City of Hull Athletic Club, which starts from Hessle Rugby Club on the north bank of the Humber estuary, proceeds through the streets for almost 2 km before joining the East pathway of the iconic suspension bridge – the fifth longest in the world. After reaching the far end at Barton, the route then switches to the West pathway for the return leg, and retraces the road route back, to finish at the rugby club. I decided to have a go at it this year as I thought it would be pretty neat to do a 10K which was mainly over water, rather than the usual running around city center streets.
